Poppy’s operation will take place on Monday 23rd April. She was diagnosed on St. Patrick’s Day in 2004 – 23rd April is St. George’s Day – maybe Poppy will finally beat her dragon that day.
Poppy will also start taking daily aspirin after her post-surgery scan to prevent a stroke.
We are very anxious, but also extremely hopeful that Poppy will finally be tumour free after 8 years of courageous fighting. As always, all your prayers & positive thoughts are appreciated. Thank you xx
We are keeping Poppy busy & distracted to keep her mind from her coming surgery. Well, yesterday the biggest & best distraction imaginable happened!!!!
Poppy is a huge X-Factor fan & had tickets for her birthday. We were worried that she would miss the show due to her surgery & contacted Sony & the tour organisers to ask if Poppy could possibly have a signed ‘Little Mix’ photo or even a phone call from them instead. When she had her phone call in February, she was overwhelmed & we thought things couldn't get better than that!!! Well, they could!!!
I had an email from a lovely man called Gavin, who said he would sort out a meet & greet for Poppy (and me, her auntie Mich & cousin Ellie). We were so excited going there yesterday!!! Poppy had no idea!! I wanted Gavin to tell Poppy while I videoed her reaction – well he had lied about the meet & greet!!!! What was planned left all of us gobsmacked!!!!
- All Access Passes – VIP!!!!!
- dinner with ‘Little Mix’ & all of the other X-Factor stars!!!
- backstage access to everything!!!
Poppy & Ellie got to go on the LG Arena stage wearing full mic, Poppy played with the sound, she played with the lights & even had her name & a huge heart on the massive screen on the stage!! Seeing the dancers rehearsing under her name was amazing!!!! Poppy also pretended to be part of the X-Factor security team!!! We spent ages chatting with all of the stars, had a lovely meal with them, drinks, sweets, etc all on tap!!!! The girls had bags full of signed goodies!!! We watched the first half from our own seats, went backstage again in the interval & then sat in the sound & lighting area by the 2nd stage for the second half!!! We stood at the side of the stage for the finale & went backstage to greet everyone when they had finished the show!!! ‘Little Mix ' signed Poppy’s t-shirt too & wrote ‘To Poppy, we are your greatest fans! Love Little Mix xxx’
Poppy did not stopped smiling all day (nor did I!!!) – it was the most amazing wonderful experience!!!!
Poppy will have these amazing memories for the rest of her life – all I can say is WOW!!!!
And huge thanks to Gavin, The X-Factor Stars - Little Mix, Marcus, Craig, Kitty, Misha B, Amelia, The Risk, Janet & Johnny, the sound, lighting, security, catering crew & everyone who made us feel more than VIPs – we were just a part of the X-Factor gang!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Other very exciting news – lovely Abi who miraculously fought back from the brink last Summer became a big sister again on Friday – beautiful Nell Abigail has arrived. Congratulations to Steve, Sarah, Abi, Tom, Ted & all of your lovely family xxx
