Just to let you know that Poppy started her radiotherapy yesterday. So far so good! She was very anxious yesterday, especially as the appointment wasn't until 3pm, so she had all day to think about it. She'd been tearful at school in the morning & was worried she couldn't lie still.
However, she was amazing. She lay perfectly still throughout & didn't complain once. When we went back in after, she put her hand straight to her head & asked 'Has my hair gone yet?'. Bless her she thought it would happen straight away. She was fine after it yesterday.
Today our appointment was at 9.10am. Poppy was full of beans (well, she had the sillies really!!) beforehand, she skipped into the room, lay perfectly still, bounced back out with a huge smile, was back in school for 10.30am, managed a full day at school, walked home from school...then went straight on her trampoline!!! She amazes us!!!!
All of her other appointments should be morning ones, so we will get Poppy into school as much as she can manage. However, we have decided to keep her off on a Friday to give her a special treat. We are hoping to go to the Butterfly Farm in Stratford-upon-Avon this Friday - as that fits in with Poppy's topic work at school. We did explain that she could have a treat each week, we asked Poppy what she would like...'PRINGLES!'...was her reply!!!! Bless her!!!!
We know that Poppy will get more tired & start to experience side-effects as her treatment continues, but we just wanted to share how very proud we are of our wonderful little star!!!! Her treatment will be Monday to Friday until the 16th July (a Wednesday) - so 28 days in total (2 down, 26 to go!!!).
I've attached 3 photos - 1 of Poppy with Ruby, then 2 of her in Spain (we went for Whit week at the end of May).
As always we ask for your prayers for Poppy & for her friends who are poorly too.
