Yesterday we got Poppy's scan results - as long as things are stable we are happy - but yesterday everything looked BETTER!!! The only time we've heard that before was once back in June 2005!!! WOW!!! The official report hasn't been done yet - but this is a HUGE step in the right direction!!!! It looks as if the radiotherapy is working :-) Poppy's next scan will be in 4 months - the longest gap in the 5 years since her diagnosis!
Now, Poppy will begin a series of other tests to monitor her hormones & growth - as both the tumour & the radiotherapy can affect her pituitary gland & hypothalamus. This can affect growth & bring on precocious puberty - but these are treatable. We will also continue to monitor Poppy's academic progress as the radiotherapy continues to affect her learning development - again, something Poppy can happily live with. We are feeling extremely grateful & would have given anything when Poppy was diagnosed in March 2004 to be where we are now. All of your thoughts prayers are working!!! Our little girl is an amazing fighter!!!
We gave Dr Peet a cheque for £8500 yesterday, which combined with money raised though various 'Just Giving' pages takes the total given this year to £13,000. The total now given to research is £32,000 & overall total to the hospital is £93,000!!!! WOW!!! This combined with the money donated to CLIC Sargent, Make-a-Wish, Cancer Counselling Trust & the QE Hospital takes our total raised to a whopping £95,700. Our next aim is to reach £100,000. Thank you for continuing to support us.
