Poppy's Scan Results - September 2009

We hope this update finds you all well. Here is our latest news...

Poppy with Touch FM DJ Dave James after her radio interview!

Poppy's Scan Results

We are thrilled to say that Poppy's scan results are great - that's 2 in a row now - a record for Poppy!!! The tumour is smaller again - the cyst is still big but stable. FANTASTIC!! Poppy's next scan will be after Christmas - a big gap again! Poppy has grown 1cm in 3 months, which is okay, but she has also gained 2kg in weight, which is not so good. Weight gain is a side-effect from her tumour, as is lack of growth. Poppy will visit her Endocrinologist again in January, with a view to starting growth hormones. Hopefully these will balance out her weight & height.

Poppy's Achievements!

Poppy has settled fantastically back into school & is loving Year 2!! Her teacher, Mr. Hughes, & SEN assistant, Mrs. Parr, are keeping her smiling every day!! Poppy took her first ever ballet exam on 20th September, we should find out her grade soon! She also achieved her 25m swimming badge too!! We are very proud of her!

Things continue to go from strength to strength. We are so grateful for the support that we receive from everyone. We have just ordered some 'Poppy Fields' charity wristbands & trolley tokens - so we'll let you know when they are on sale!!

We would like to thank...

Stuart Meer for running the Nottingham Half Marathon & raising a fantastic £326.

Sainsbury's Tamworth for their continued efforts! Especially the men who had their backs & armpits waxed for Poppy!!! Ouch!!!

LSC Group who donated £52 from their dress down day! Fab!

We would like to send lots of luck to my sister, Michelle, and to Andy Heath & Steve Hill who will all be running the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October for Poppy Fields. Together they have raised £725 so far! Good luck guys - you will be wonderful!!! We are really proud of you all!!!

Sock it to 'em!

Friday 23rd October is our Sock it to 'em! event with Sainsbury's Tamworth & Touch FM - so far 7 local primary schools are taking part - along with the staff of Sainsbury's Tamworth of course! All you need to do is wear your silliest socks to school or work (or even just out & about!) & donate £1 to 'Poppy Fields'. We hope you can join us!

The National Blood Service

Tomorrow, me & Poppy will be presenting the National Blood Awards for the 4th time. We feel it is such an honour to thank those who have given 75 or 100 units of blood. Poppy wouldn't be here if it wasn't for blood donors. Thank you to those of you who also give blood.

Poppy Fields Cricket Team

We would like to thank the team for a fantastic season! They have raised £300 so far & helped raise awareness too. They are also a group of wonderful friends. THANK YOU!!!! :-)

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts & prayers - they are working so please keep them going. Please can you also continue to pray for Abi, George, Jasmine, Haydn, Mia, Hope, Alex, Liberty & all of the special kids from our Optic Glioma Online support group & our Oncology Friends. Thank you.
